Montana Kids Can Already Start Writing Letters to Santa

We’re just getting into fall here in Montana, but before you know it, the holidays will be here. 

I know, I know. We just started talking about fall; Halloween is still more than a month away, and I’m already bringing up Christmas. For parents and grandparents, though, it’s never too early to start thinking about the holidays. 

A Tradition Returns: Operation Santa

There’s one holiday tradition that is already underway.

The U.S. Postal Service’s Operation Santa program is back, giving kids across Montana an opportunity to send a letter to Santa and potentially receive a letter back from the North Pole. 

The program allows children and families to send letters to Santa through the USPS. The letters need to follow the program’s guidelines, which can be found on the USPS Operation Santa website. 

Sending Your Letter to Santa

If you want to send a letter to Santa, the official address is: 

Santa Claus
123 Elf Road
North Pole, 88888 

Once the letter is sent, kids can look forward to the possibility of hearing back from Santa closer to the holidays. 

There’s something pretty cool about a kid sitting down, writing a letter to Santa, and dropping it into the mailbox, knowing that it’s actually headed to the North Pole.

Here in Montana, where Christmas and winter can feel like a pretty big deal, I can see plenty of families taking advantage of this tradition. 

Get Ready for Holiday Cheer!

While we’re still enjoying the beginning of fall, it might be time to get those pencils and crayons ready. 

Operation Santa is now accepting letters, so if your kids or grandkids want to write to Santa, you can get started now. 

Just don’t blame me when they start asking how many days are left until Christmas.
