It seems we always want what we don't have.

If you ask those living here in Montana what they would like to see come to Big Sky Country, you'll get several different answers, but you can bet your bottom dollar that a lot of those answers will be the following:

  • Chick-fil-A
  • In-N-Out Burger
  • Trader Joe's

Part of it is that folks have traveled to other places and experienced different things, and the other part is that folks from other places have moved here and are hoping to bring a little taste of home to Montana.

There's been a lot of talk about In-N-Out Burger coming to Montana.

So, what makes this fanchaise so popular? Well, a couple of different things. First, there is the not-so-secret menu that folks seem to love. Second, the prices are reasonable. Third, it's a decent burger.

If you're reading this hoping that we will announce that In-N-Out is coming to Montana, you will be disappointed. There has been no such announcement, but we know that In-N-Out is in Idaho and the first store is set to open in Washington state, so that could mean that at some point, the popular franchise could open in Montana.

One of the reasons In-N-Out Burger is so beloved is that everything is fresh. There is no frozen meat, which means that to have an In-N-Out in the area, you would need a distribution center within a few hours of the location.

Because In-N-Out Burger is a privately owned company, they're very picky about where they expand to. The popular restaurant is getting ready to open in Tennessee, which has the surrounding states very excited that they could be next.

Which Montana town would best be suited for an In-N-Out Burger?

Because of the expansion into Washington state, I would say Missoula would be the top spot. Especially if the franchise expands into the Spokane area. Of course, we are getting ahead of ourselves.

The good news?

Montana has a ton of great places to grab a burger. Places like The Roadhouse Diner and Street Burgers in Great Falls, Mark's In & Out in Livingston, The Buger Dive in Billings, Best Burger, Backcountry Burger, Lone Peak Provisions, and Burger Bob's in Bozeman, Wally and Buck in Missoula, and many more.
