Another Grizzly Killed in Montana: Man Survives Attack
Montana is a hotbed for grizzlies—and with that comes the risk of conflict. Already this year, five grizzly bears have been killed across the state under a range of circumstances.
Two were shot in self-defense, one was a conflict removal by wildlife officials, another was hit by a car in Gallatin County, and the fifth case is still under investigation—though it's suspected to be another self-defense situation. This string of incidents started on April 11, and in just a short span, we’ve seen a sharp reminder of what it means to share space with these powerful animals.

Grizzlies are still federally protected, even though Montana has been pushing in recent years to have them delisted. The recovery and management of grizzly populations is honestly one of the greatest conservation success stories out there, but it's also leading to an increase in run-ins with humans. Not exactly shocking
According to Montana Fish Wild Life and Parks report, a grizzly bear charged a landowner near their home in Condon and Seeley Lake. The incident happened the night of June 3, when the landowner said he heard noises outside.
The noises were coming from their livestock, their dogs—and a grizzly. When the man went to check on the animals, the bear charged. He fired in response, killing the bear. Just like the other incidents this year, the person involved walked away unharmed.

As Montana continues to navigate the line between conservation and public safety, do you think it's time to reexamine grizzly protections? Let us know HERE.
