Several news sources are reporting this afternoon that the University of Montana Grizzlies are going to start a search for a new football coach. After losing to Montana State this past Saturday, which knocked Montana out of the Big Sky playoffs for the second year in a row, Grizzly head football coach Bob Stitt will not return in 2018.

Several other coaches on the staff are also being let go, according to Skyline Sports. The Griz have lost the last 2 meetings with Montana State and they are missing the Big Sky playoffs for the first time in successive seasons since 1991-92.

Under Stitt, the Grizzlies were 21-14 in his three seasons with one appearance in the post season. He was also 1-2 against the Bobcats which did not help his case.

More information will come out of the press conference that is set for 4 p.m. this afternoon in Missoula.
