The Gallatin Valley Food Bank is asking for volunteers to help harvest carrots that were donated by Rocky Creek Farm.

Volunteers are needed next Tuesday (10/20) and Wednesday (10/21). Last spring, Gallatin Valley Botanical at Rocky Creek Farm planted 2 acres of carrots that they intended on donating to the Gallatin Valley Food Bank. They also hope that the harvested carrots will be included in school food systems locally.  Rocky Creek Farm has tended to the carrots this entire year, and now it's time to harvest. They are looking for volunteers that can dedicate a few hours next Tuesday or Wednesday to help them out. They need help in the 10am slots and the 3pm slots next week.

Half of all the carrots harvested by volunteers will be donated to the Gallatin Valley Food Bank. Get a group of friends together and volunteer if you can spare some time. Take advantage of the beautiful fall weather in Montana and get your hands dirty to help the Gallatin Valley Food Bank help those in need in our community.

The community carrot patch is located at Happel Farm. To get there from Bozeman, head west on Huffine Land until you reach Gooch Hill Road. Take a right on Gooch Hill Road and travel 0.7 miles until you see a small farm gate on the right. Turn right on the road and follow the road until you reach a large pile of trees and brush. Volunteers are asked to park on the east side of the pile and walk 100 yards to the norht to the fenced vegetable field.
