Bozeman Prepares For Brawl Of The Wild Week

Well, it's here. It's Brawl of the Wild Week in Montana, and this one is for all the marbles.

Not only is the Great Divide Trophy up for grabs, but it's also about bragging rights for the next year; whoever wins this game wins the Big Sky Conference Championship. It all comes down to this: the two best teams in the Conference, and they just happen to be from the same state and bitter rivals.

I love this time of year. I love the Holidays, the food, the music, the decorations, and the football. As a Cat fan, I will be cheering on MSU this Saturday, as will much of Montana, but I know the Griz has a very loyal fan base as well.

How big is the Brawl of the Wild?

For Montana, it doesn't get any bigger. In fact, I would dare say that folks get more excited for this game than they do when one of the teams plays for a National Championship. That's how much this game means in Big Sky Country.

I've mentioned before, I've lived in both Missoula and Bozeman, so I feel like I have a pretty good feel for both cities and universities. And while I'm not making predictions for who will win Saturday's game, I will tell you this: the big winner? The state of Montana. (Go Cats, Go!)

#5 Blue and Gold everywhere. As you drive around Bozeman, you can't help but notice the colors of MSU are everywhere, even more so than they normally are.

#4 Bobcat faithful already have a plan for where they're going to watch the game.

#3 I watched as a 3 or 4-year-old little girl walked with her family to their car from Bobcat Stadium as she was singing "Eat $h!t Grizzlies, Go Cats, Go!"

#2 I was driving down Wilson and literally saw a college kid standing in the driveway holding a real "stuffed" bear.

#1 "Can The Griz" is happening all over the Valley and is the biggest food drive in Montana as we look to win for the 21st time in 26 years.
