Flying Out Of Bozeman Might Be Bumpier Than You Think
When I was younger, I was all about the road trip.
There was nothing like a tank full of gas, a bunch of snacks, great tunes on the radio, and the open road. The older I become, the less I like to drive and the more I like to fly. Because of it's size, Montana is home to many airports, including one of the busiest in the Northwestern part of the United States.
Bozeman/Yellowstone International Airport.
The airport here in Bozeman continues to grow at a pretty quick pace, yet it is still small enough to get where you need to be quickly, however, according to Yahoo News, a trip out of Bozeman might not be the most pleasant thing you can do.
So, what is it? The lack of food options? The lack of retails stores? Is the TSA too touchy?

Actually, it's none of that. Yahoo says that the reason you might think twice is that the Bozeman/Yellowstone International Airport is near the top when it comes to turbulent flights.
In fact, the study reports that the only airport in America that has more turbulence than Bozeman is the Denver International Airport.
Now, I'm certainly not a frequent flyer, but I can tell you that the handful of times I have used the airport, it's never been a problem. Not only have the flights always been on time, they've been pretty smooth in their duration.
Turbulent flights from Bozeman
According to the report, there are several different factors involved. However, it seems that the mountains play a factor. When you mix in the altitude as well as the wind and air pressure, well, it could cause a few bumps along the way.

So, the next time you book a trip from Bozeman to any of the above locations maybe prepare for a bit of a bumpy ride, although, I'm told that a little time at the bar pre-flight does wonders.
