A fight between two men at a popular downtown bar ended with the death of one and the other being charged with murder.

According to the Police Report, a call came in at 12:44 am reporting a shooting in the 200 block of East Main Street in Downtown Bozeman. As soon as officers arrived, they began to preform live saving efforts.

It was reported that the suspect in the shooting fled the scene in a vehicle and according to the Police Report was quickly pulled over and taken into custody.

The suspect, a 22 year old man named Jakob Lundberg has been arrested after shooting the victim Sydney Callaghan, a 29 year old male multiple times. Callaghan was transported to Bozeman Health Deaconess Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

While many in the community are shocked, according to data there might not be much to worry about.

Overall, Bozeman is considered one of the safest cities in the state according to statistics and something like this will certainly raise questions about just how safe Bozeman really is?

The answer seems to be very safe. According to the numbers, the average homicides per year is between 0-2 which makes Bozeman one of the safest large cities in the state. According to the data, Bozeman is far below the National Average when it comes to criminal activities.
