Two Montana Cities Make Best Foodie List In The Nation
I’d consider myself a foodie. When traveling or even just planning a night out in my hometown, I’m always hunting for something new to try. There are definitely places that have a bigger selection of restaurants, but here in Montana, we don’t necessarily have a bunch of big cities (thankfully), and we’d like to keep it that way. What we do have, though, are small cities that absolutely make the most of their food scenes.
WalletHub just released its list of the “Best Foodie Cities in America,” and to my surprise, two Montana cities made the cut! Even more surprising? One of our most popular cities, Bozeman, didn’t make the list at all, and I can’t figure out why.
For those who haven’t seen it, WalletHub compared 182 U.S. cities using 28 different factors. Factors from restaurant quality and food affordability to grocery costs and food festivals per capita. Basically, they set out to find where you can get the best bites without breaking the bank. And in a state known more for its wide-open spaces than its culinary density, Montana still managed to hold its own.

Coming in at #93 was Missoula, a city that’s no stranger to unique food trucks, cozy diners, and a pretty solid craft beer scene. But edging it out was Billings, sliding in at #86. Not bad for the “Magic City,” which has been quietly building a diverse food culture with everything from smoky BBQ joints to upscale spots serving locally sourced dishes.
So what do you think? Did WalletHub get it right? Or did they miss the mark on Montana’s true foodie favorites? Let us know HERE!
