The Wickes Tunnel near Boulder, Montana is one of the coolest off-the-radar things to see in Montana. A couple of years ago, I visited the Wickes Tunnel and actually drove through it during the summer. During the winter, the tunnel completely changes. Large ice columns form within the tunnel making it impossible to drive through.

Here's a video from when I drove through Wickes Tunnel. I apologize for the poor quality. It was a bumpy ride.

When the tunnel was first built in 1887, it was the longest railroad tunnel in Montana with a length of 6,145 feet. For comparison, a mile is only 5,280 feet. Click here to read about the history of the Wickes Tunnel.
