Montanan Wins National Cooking Show and More Than 200 Grand

A few weeks back we told you about Bryce Stubbs, a local guy who was competing on the Food Network show 100 cooks.

For those not familiar with the show, it starts out with 100 home cooks and there is different challenges throughout the competition. The purpose? To narrow it down to one cook, who is considered the best home cook in America.

Bryce, who is from Churchill and attended an graduated from Montana State University was the only cook from Montana on the show, and with in a few rounds proved to be a fierce competitor. A rugged guy, who loves to hunt, he also has a passion for cooking, which he got from his father, who passed away when he was 13.

Stubbs, who had been working in the oil fields to save up money to attend pasty school in France represented his home state with pride.

Not only was he the first of the cooks to make the final 8, he also was one of the last two standing when it came to the final cook, which just so happened to be the cook's choice. The requirement?

Make a dish worth over 200 thousand dollars.

In the end, Bryce decided to put his life on a plate. With Elk tenderloin as the protein along with taro root fries, corn puree, and huckleberry sauce, the plate was enough to not only impress the judges, but win the competition.

Bryce took home 215 thousand dollars, plus the crown of best home cook in America, not too bad for the only Montanan on the show.

So, can we expect a restaurant from Bryce here in the Bozeman area sometime soon? Only time will tell, but we know he loves the Bobcats, and we know his roots are here, so who knows...seems like a good match to me.
