Welcome to my first edition of Flashback Friday. Every Friday, I am going to post a video of the #1 song on this date from a random year.

On this date in 2006, fresh off of her American Idol win, Carrie Underwood topped the country charts with Jesus Take the Wheel! This song was her first single, and was featured on her debut album Some Hearts. This was Carrie Underwoods first, of many, #1's on the Country Billboard Chart.

This song helped propel Carrie to the mega country superstar she is today. This single also gave Carrie some trophies to add to her trophy case. The awards include:

The Grammy Awards - Best Female Country Vocal Performance AND Best Country Song

The Academy of Country Music - Single of the Year (2006)

The CMT Female Video of the Year and Breakthrough Video of the Year (2006)

The Gospel Music Association - Country Song of the Year
