The Bozeman School Board unanimously voted on next year's school calendar, and the last day of school will be on June 13th, 2012, almost a week later than this year's June 7th date.  The first day of school will stay the same, August 29th.

They did approve more time off at Christmas - 10 days instead of 8 - running from Dec. 22 to Jan 6th.

Memorial Day will be a four day weekend, instead of 3.

Are you aware that a task force is looking at year-round school, longer school days or four day weeks?  Officials say that next year's changes don't have anything to do with the task force, and that if any major changes take place, it would be 2014.

Does it seem strange to anyone else, that all of a sudden, the school year is longer, as a task force discusses year-round school?  Almost like they are trying to prepare us for future changes?

I am not afraid to admit that I am dead-set opposed to year-round school.  Enough so, that I won't vote for more money for schools, and I will take my kids out of public school if it happens.

Every heard the old saying, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it?"  Bozeman Schools are great schools, and I've done some research.  Here's one article I've looked at.   Pros And Cons Of Year-Round School In my opinion, the cons outweigh the pros.

What do you think?
