March 29th of this year marks 45 years since the end of the Vietnam War. On this day in 1973, the United Stated troops left Vietnam.

The 6th annual Veteran Stand Down is happening on Saturday, June 13 at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds. Vets, come on out and enjoy free medical, dental and vision screenings, lunch, haircuts, job service and much, much more.

Veteran's Day is this Sunday November 11th. Applebee's is continuing with their annual tradition of serving free meals to the Neighborhoods Real Heros on Veteran's Day.  Find out what meals are free and what you need to bring with to get your meal.

Gary Welsand and Jim Kaorth joined Mark Allen in the studio to talk about the Stand Down event happening at the Gallatin County Fairgrounds this Saturday June 16h from 9am-3pm. The event is in its third year and as always, Stand Down will provide services, food, and military gear to any veterans and their families in the area.

Tim McGraw is giving back to wounded warriors and service members by launching the nationwide HomeFront initiative, a goodwill effort that will award 25 deserving families with a mortgage-free home at each of his summer concert stops. This is why XL Country loves Tim McGraw!

A recent survey conducted by Military Times Edge ranks which colleges are best for military veterans. Most of the schools making the list were public, including 51 of the 59 highest ranking four-year schools. The top five four-year schools included Concord University, taking the number one spot, Eastern Kentucky University at number two, Rutgers in third, California University of Pennsylvania
