Montana State Bobcat Football

One of two NCAA Division I FCS teams in the state of Montana, the Montana State Bobcats are a perennially competitive football team and carry a long tradition of excellence in Bozeman, MT. A major source of pride in the community, the team has played since 1897, winning three national championships in the 1956, 1976, and 1984 seasons.

Each year, the Bobcats meet their rival, the University of Montana Grizzlies, for a conference matchup known as Cat-Griz or the Brawl of the Wild. Since 1897, the two teams have met 119 times, with Montana leading 72-41-5 as of 2020. The game often has national playoff implications as well as usually determining the Big Sky Conference Championship. Montana State currently holds a 4-year winning streak against the Grizzlies dating back to 2016.
