Former Montanan Has Viral Moment On New Comedy Special

A former Bozeman resident made a huge impression on a new comedy special that was recently added to Netflix.

If you're a fan of stand-up comedy, you've most likely heard of Kill Tony. It's a live comedy show hosted by comedian Tony Hinchcliffe. Several up-and-coming comedians have gotten their big break on the show.

Montana Comedian Excited to Be on New Netflix Special

Usually, new episodes of the show are released on Spotify and YouTube, but the newest episode was a highly anticipated special on Netflix. Hinchcliffe signed a three-special deal with the popular streaming platform.

If you've never watched the show, here's how it works. Comedians put their name in a bucket for a chance to perform a 60-second comedy set in front of a live audience.

Kill Tony is primarily filmed at Comedy Mothership in Austin, Texas, but certain episodes have been filmed in larger venues.

One of the comedians that was pulled from the bucket has a Montana connection. Her name is Serena Thiel (Rena Thiel), and she lived in Bozeman for 10 years before moving to Austin. When asked about her time in Bozeman, Thiel replied.

I love it there. I was there on and off for 10 years. I'm really into rock climbing, so it's a cool place to get to do that.

She later revealed that she went to college in Montana, and was a Philosophy major at the University of Montana.

Following her 60-second comedy set, Thiel was interviewed by the panel of celebrity judges, which included Hinchcliffe, Shane Gillis ( President Trump), Tom Segura, and Joe Rogan.

Next, Hinchcliffe invited Thiel to perform an additional minute of stand-up comedy at Madison Square Garden on August 16.

In an article published following the show on the Cracked website, Thiel was included on a list of five comedians that were considered funnier that Tony Hinchcliffe on the new Netflix special.
