Steve Rinella,the creator and host of Meat Eater owns a home in Montana. Bozeman is also home to the official Meat Eater headquarters. Rinella is an avid outdoorsman, and have filmed several episodes of the show in the state.
Rinella recently received an honorary docorate degree in forestry and conservation from the University of Montana. He received the honor during the Spring Commencement ceremony on May 10, 2025.
Rinella graduated from the University of Montana. He earned a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in creative nonfiction writing from UM's renowned graduate program in 2000.
