Owning and operating any business for nearly 30 years is an accomplishment in itself, but the Black Cat Bake Shop in Missoula is a local landmark.

The Black Cat Bake Shop first opened in 1997 at the Missoula Farmer's Market, and quickly became a staple for Missoula residents. The bakery is owned by Jack Wich. Opening the Black Cat Bake Shop was the realization of a lifelong dream for Wich.

As the business continued to grow, Wich needed more space. In 2010, the Black Cat Bake Shop at 2000 W. Broadway in Missoula. Sadly, the Black Cat Bake Shop is closing after 27 years, according a social media from the owner.

We are saddened to announce that Black Cat Bake Shop will be permanently closing its doors Saturday August 31st. We want to thank the Missoula Community for giving us an amazing 27 years of unwavering support. This decision has not come easy to the family but with Christy’s untimely passing in December 2022 and Jacks retirement, we feel it is best for the company to retire as well. We will continue to operate under our normal business hours until the 31st.
