Where is my ballot? Was my ballot received? Knowing if your vote gets counted is important, and it's easier than ever to track your ballot when you send in your absentee ballot - or 'vote by mail'.
First, let's talk about important election dates for 2024 in Montana. Do you need to register to vote? No problem, but you'll have to do that in person since the 'register to vote by mail' had to be postmarked by October 7th.

- By mail: (postmarked by): Oct 7
- In person during early voting: Oct 7 – Nov 4
- In-person at local election office on Election Day: Nov 5
The general election will be held in Montana on November 5th, 2024. Both of Montana's seats in the United States House of Representatives, all of the seats in the Montana House of Representatives, and half of the seats in the Montana Senate will be up for election.

WHERE DO I VOTE? If you're unsure where your polling place is to vote in person, it's easy to find your voting location (for ANY state), as long as you're already registered to vote. If you're not registered to vote, you can apply to register to vote here.
You can TRACK YOUR ABSENTEE BALLOT for the 2024 General Election. The status of you ballot may include the following terms:
- SENT: This means your county has mailed your absentee ballot to you
- RECEIVED: This means your county has received your voted absentee ballot
- ACCEPTED: This means your signature was verified and your ballot will be counted during tabulation
- CONTACT YOUR COUNTY: This may show up if you did not receive your absentee ballot or if your ballot status is "Undeliverable" or "Rejected"
