Today is Nation Underwear Day…Underwear Day? There is a national Scurvy Awareness Week! We all use underwear (or most of us do). How does scurvy get a week? Some other weeks we celebrate: National Karaoke Week, National Simplify your Life Week, Read a Road Map Week. Who uses a map any more?

The ancient Egyptians sometimes wore loincloths, but why do we call them a pair of panties? I don’t know if it is all true, but here’s what I found on the internet: In the early 19th century women's underwear consisted to two separate legs joined at the waist. They really were a 'pair'.

Underwear holds an important place in our life; we have women’s underwear stores, entire sections in the big variety stores and web sights dedicated to underwear. You may call them underpants, under britches, drawers, shorts or skivvies. But the most important thing to remember is - men’s and women’s underwear are very different, Women’s underwear are made to hold things up. Men’s to hold things down.

Happy National Underwear Day!
