Students at Hellgate High School in Missoula are reportedly planning to walk out of class today in protest of gun violence.

In addition to Hellgate, Missoula International School as well as Carroll College in Helena are planning on participating in a national walk out on March 14th.  The national walkout is planned one month from the Florida school shooting where 17 students were killed at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

Women’s March Youth EMPOWER, the organizers of this nation wide walk out, are calling for all students, teachers, faculty and parents to take part in a #NationalSchoolWalkout.   The organizers are stating the walk out is to

"protest Congress’ inaction to do more than tweet thoughts and prayers in response to the gun violence plaguing our schools and neighborhoods. We need action. Students and allies are organizing the national school walkout to demand Congress pass legislation to keep us safe from gun violence at our schools, on our streets and in our homes and places of worship."

How would you feel if the Bozeman area schools had a walk out?  It poses many questions to me and makes me wonder.  Is asking 15 year old kids to step out of class in protest is a wise choice? Would you support a school walk out here in Bozeman?  Please take our poll.
