All women are invited to the Women In The Outdoors event for a day of fun outdoors including Dutch oven cooking, archery, disc golf, and paddle boarding at East Gallatin Recreation Area (Bozeman Beach) this Saturday, August 22.

Mothers, daughters, sisters and friends are welcome to sign up and learn a new skill; no experience is required. The Big Sky Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, in conjunction with other Montana NWTF chapters, is hosting this event. Registration costs $50 and includes lunch.

"Our chapter has been planning this event for over one year and we are looking forward to making it a fun event for all. We work to ensure that everyone feels at ease," said Lynn Lavinder. "In a judgement-free zone, everyone can learn and have a good time. If someone hits a bull's-eye, everyone cheers. But if they miss the target, everyone cheers anyway. It's a lot of fun."

Knowledgeable instructors will teach activities including:

  • Archery
  • Paddle boarding/kayaking
  • Fly tying
  • Fly casting
  • Dutch oven cooking

Local and state NWTF chapters host thousands of similar events nationwide each year through its Women in the Outdoors Hunting Heritage Program.

Many families enjoy hunting together and pass traditions on from one generation to another. Hunting also is important for the health of our nation's wildlife and habitat because hunters fund conservation. Wild turkeys, and the management and hunting that go with them, contribute $2 billion to the American economy each spring.

Ladies you can also win a Mossberg 270 camo-finish rifle with 22" barrell (pictured below). Raffle tickets are $20 and are only being sold at the Women in the Outdoors Event on Saturday.
