With more than 55 million ‘Where’s Waldo?’ books sold worldwide, MGM has announced the bespectacled, striped shirt-wearing icon is getting his own live-action family adventure movie too.

One can only wonder if audiences will have to look for Waldo in various settings or among crowds of different characters, like they do in the books by Martin Handford.

In a statement, the film company’s Jonathan Glickman said, “We are thrilled to be bringing the search for Waldo to the big screen. Along with our partners at [production company] Classic Media, we look forward to making a worldwide adventure that will appeal to ‘Where’s Waldo?’ fans of all ages.”

Eric Ellenbogen, co-CEO of Classic Media, added, “Waldo is the most searched-for character in the world. With thanks to MGM, fans everywhere will find Waldo in movie theaters with his motion picture debut.”

No cast or production schedule has yet been announced.
