Volunteer For Yellowstone National Public Lands Day Project
September 30th is National Public Lands Day, and Yellowstone National Park is asking for volunteers to help with a back-country trail restoration project.
They will be working in the Blacktail Plateau area of Yellowstone, which is a couple miles off the road. It’s strenuous work, so you’ll need to be able to hike to and from the site, and the work will include placement of erosion control.
Space is limited to 20 volunteers, so register by September 10th. Email YELL_Volunteer_Office@nps.gov, or call 307-344-2729 and leave a voicemail with your name and phone number. In addition, entrance fee will be waived for all visitors that day.
Volunteers should take food and drink, sunscreen, and wear sturdy shoes. Weather is unpredictable so take clothing suitable for working outside in a range of conditions as weather frequently changes throughout the day. For your work you’ll also receive a coupon for free entry to the federal public land of your choice.
