Our Tarantino's player of the week is #23 Jody Owens, a senior linebacker from Mesquite, TX.

He was last week’s Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

Montana State  (2012) A third-year starting linebacker… selected Preseason Big Sky Defensive MVP, and tabbed as a preseason All-America by several sources… voted a team captain by his teammates following spring drills.

(2011) An outstanding junior season produced Second Team All-America and unanimous First Team All-Big Sky honors… his 105 tackles was was fifth in the Big Sky and his 8.1 per game was 10th… his 17.0 tackles for loss and 1.3 per game led the league… led the team in tackles seven times… co-winner of MSU’s Chuck Karnop Toughness Award after spring drills.

(2010) A second-year starter, starting all 12 games at the Will linebacker position… earned Honorable Mention All-Big Sky honors… second on the team with 80 total tackles and third with 8.5 tackles-for-loss… broke up four passes and forced two fumbles… rolled up 19 tackles in back-to-back games against NAU and Northern Colorado, with a season-high 14 against Weber State… also 1.5 tackles-for-loss and two pass breakups against Weber.

(2009)  Played in all 11 games, starting nine for the Bobcats… fourth on the team with 61 tackles, including 4.0 for a loss and a half-sack… intercepted a Sac State pass that he returned 31 yards… also recovered a fumble against Weber State… Honorable Mention All-Big Sky.  (2008) Redshirted at MSU.

Academics  Enrolled in MSU’s University Studies program.
