The Westboro Baptist Church has had a lot of media attention lately. Mostly because they said they were planning on picketing the funerals of those killed at Sandyhook Elementary. It seems this attention has caught up to the Church and there is a petition to recognize the church as a hate group, the petition has over 260,000 signatures on it.

While I was serving my second tour in Iraq one of my fellow Marines was killed. He was the turret gunner on a Humvee and when the vehicle lost control and rolled he was killed. His name was Mathew Snyder (3-3-06). Some of you might recognize his name from the news. Not because of his death but because of the disrespect his family was shown after his death.

When the Westboro Baptist Church announced their intention to target the funeral of Texas A&M alum Lt. Col. Roy Tisdale, his fellow Aggies didn’t take it sitting down.

In fact, with a little help of Facebook, more than 500 students at Texas A&M showed up at the burial in College Park, Texas.

The Westboro Baptist Church is at it again.

The fundamentalist and anti-gay group has announced it will picket the funeral of former first lady Betty Ford, who died last week, because she got divorced before marrying the man who would later become President Gerald Ford. This, the group says, made her an adulterer who "loved to sit with tawdry reporters and blather about sex."
