Bozeman Police are asking for your help, in finding who was responsible for several crimes last Saturday night, and early Sunday morning.

From Bozeman Police:

At some point in the evening of Saturday, April 28, 2012 and morning of Sunday, April 29, 2012, a small crime spree occurred in the area of S. 3rd Avenue and adjoining streets.  At least six vehicles were entered on Westridge, Fieldstone, Brookdale and Hillcrest Drive.  At a minimum, an IPOD and firearm were taken from one of the vehicles.  Additionally, one of the vehicles was taken for a “joy ride”, later being returned near to its original location.

As part of the culprit(s) crime spree, they sprayed bear spray onto outer doors into Sacajawea Middle School, onto door handles of 2 vehicles and emptied the remaining bear spray into the interior of the vehicle they took for a drive.   One vehicle owner handled a sprayed surface, receiving minor burns.  He received medical treatment at BDH and was released.

The Bozeman Police Department reminds everyone that these are crimes of opportunity.  Vehicle doors should always be locked and valuables, especially firearms, kept in a more secure location.  Keeping extra keys in vehicles may be convenient to you, but are even more convenient to a criminal.

We urge anyone with information regarding this crime to call 582-2000, crimestoppers at 586-1131 or email us at policetips@bozeman.net.  Persons with information that help solve this crime may remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward.
