Simpsons Creator Reveals Location of Springfield!

After years of debate amongst the most die hard of Simpsons fans, the creator has finally revealed what city The Simpsons' Springfield is named after.

The city is Springfield, Oregon. Creator Matt Groening explains, “When I was a kid, the TV show ‘Father Knows Best’ took place in the town of Springfield, and I was thrilled because I imagined that it was the town next to Portland, my hometown,” to the Smithsonian Magezine.

I imagine the real town of Springfield, Oregon is nothing like the Simpon's version. Are you surprised The Simpsons' hometown was named after an Oregon city? I personally thought it would have been in the midwest somewhere.
