Grab a Kleenex. Grab a whole box if you have kids. One mother feared she’d forget what her son sounded like when he lost his battle with leukemia last August, so two deejays at a local radio station made sure that didn't happen by writing and recording “She Heard His Voice."

WBKR’s Chadwick Benefield and Jaclyn Graves created the song, heard and seen in the video above. “She Heard His Voice” is dedicated to Chance Tetrick, who was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in February 2013.

“My tears were comforted by the softness of Chance's voice,” his mom Jennifer writes at a page set up to tell his story and collect donations. “He was assuring me that he would be okay.”

On Aug. 4, 2014, Chance’s father Jeff Tetrick let supporters know his son had passed. "Jenn and I spent a beautiful day with Chance," he wrote. "We are proud of him for being a great kid and for knowing Jesus. God blessed us with a beautiful boy."

According to the Owensboro, Ky., station's website, the mother worried she’d forget what her son’s voice sounded like, until she heard him again during a St. Jude radiothon. Chance was a patient at St. Jude and had told his story in an effort to raise money and help others.

But she heard his voice today / She saw a light and it was brightly shining there / She had lost her faith in miracles / Til the mighty winds of grace / Blew the curtains of the room where he once laid / She heard his voice today,” WBKR’s Jaclyn Graves sings.

Benefield penned the lyrics, while Katie Beste sings backup. The music is by Matt Gray and Gray Sky Music.
