Some Montana residents were up to see the Northern Lights the past couple of nights. Mathew and his family sent me a photo they took. If you have pictures you want me to see or share, drop me an email.chris.kelly@townsquaremedia.com
While there is never a guarantee that the Northern Lights will show up, Seeing the lights is dependent on several things
1.The sky has to be clear and dark
2. The Kp number of the storm has to be above 4.67
When looking with the naked eye what you will see is a band of white (possibly a little green) similar to a thin fog on the horizon. If you take a photo, there is a lot more color. When the storm is really active you will see that "fog" start to ripple.
But most of all, have patience!
