A new fire started today, August 16th, in the Custer and Gallatin National Forests and is called the North Eightmile Fire. A helicopter and smoke jumpers are currently battling the blaze.

The fire is South of Bozeman but luckily no structures are threatened by the fires current size. Another plus is that some of the trees burning are dead trees previously killed by beetles.

The cause is currently under investigation.
