Late last week, the Montana Department of Transportation made the decision to lower the speed limit on the Frontage Road between Bozeman and Belgrade. The original report stated that MDT didn't know when the new speed of 50mph (down from 60mph) would go into effect.

It turns out the signs posting the new 50mph speed limit went up on Friday. The Gallatin County Commissioners had requested that speed, but we don't know if that is ultimately why MDT chose it.

The new speed limit will remain in effect until April, when the Frontage Road and the new speed limit will be re-evaluated.
