Missoula Man Charged With Dropping and Biting Baby

A 25-year-old Missoula man is jailed on $100,000 bail after telling investigators he dropped a 3-month-old baby last week and then bit her on the cheek because she wouldn’t stop crying.

The Missoulian reports David Vaughan Bruce appeared before Justice of the Peace Karen Orzech on Monday on a charge of assault on a minor.

Prosecutors say Bruce told investigators that he was going to put the baby into her crib because she was fussing and crying. He said as he opened the door to the baby’s room she “pushed back” against him, causing him to drop her. He says the baby started crying even harder and he bit her.

He said he put the baby in her swing and texted the baby’s mother, who came home.
