Marquette became the first team to advance to the Elite Eight by defeating Miami on Thursday night in the NCAA East Regional.

Jamil Wilson scored 16 points, and third-seeded Marquette romped over second-seeded Miami, 71-61, in the 2013 NCAA tournament's East Regional semifinals in Washington, D.C. on Thursday night. Vander Blue and Davante Gardner each added 14 points apiece, as the Golden Eagles broke out to a double-digit lead early in the first half and cruised to the victory. Marquette advanced to play Syracuse on Saturday for a spot in the Final Four. Shane Larkin had 14 points to lead the Hurricanes. Miami shot just 36 percent from the field as a team, including 30 percent from 3-point range.
