“Walking to Beautiful: The Power of Love and a Homeless Kid Who Found the Way” is the just-released Jimmy Wayne autobiography which details the singer’s true-life story and how he overcame great adversity. The book, released Oct. 7, is already on the New York Times best seller list. Abandoned by his mother at a bus station parking lot at 13, his father never having been in his life, raised as a foster child, and then homeless at age 15, Jimmy Wayne walked more than 1,400 miles on foot in 2010 from Nashville to Phoenix to raise awareness for kids aging out of the foster care system. The following year he became CASA’s national spokesperson. He has become an ardent advocate of foster children everywhere, by writing, singing, and speaking.
Approximately 1,900 children become victims of abuse or neglect every day in the United States, and four of them will die, every day. CASA of Montana, Inc., together with local programs, supports and promotes court appointed volunteer advocacy for abused and neglected children so they can thrive in safe, permanent homes. CASA has 15 local non-profit programs which work together for the welfare of Montana’s children, providing them with a voice, hope, and a future. These programs provide trained volunteers as advocates to children in some 60 percent of the abuse/neglect cases throughout the state. The local programs service 41 of Montana’s 56 counties and provide more than 600 trained volunteers. CASA of Montana’s office is in Helena, Montana. More information is available at CASA of Montana’s website, www.casagal.org.
