Heads Up: Your iPhone 5 Just Hit the ‘Vintage’ List

The iPhone 5 was introduced by Apple 6 years ago, which really wasn't all that far back in time. However, when it comes to smart phones, it was eons ago.

Apple has added the iPhone 5 to its list of "vintage and obsolete products" for the U.S.

By adding the phone to this exclusive list, Apple is telling iPhone 5 owners that it will no longer fix the hardware or offer replacement parts.

If you own this apparent dinosaur of an iPhone, and it breaks or no longer functions, you'll be forced to buy a newer model if you want a brand new phone.

Why does this matter to iPhone 5 owners? Because some people who own the 5 may prefer the smaller display screen and phone size. Apple no longer offers a new iPhone model with a screen display size of less that 4.7 inches.

According to Apple, vintage devices are "those that have not been manufactured for more than 5 and less than 7 years ago."

The company calls "obsolete" products those which were "discontinued more than 7 years ago"
