The United States Marine Corp turns 241 years old today! On November 10, 1775, the Second Continental Congress established the Continental Marines, which eventually became the Marine Corp. When the Revolutionary War ended in 1783, the Continental Marines were disbanded, then re-established on 11 July 1798 as the Marine Corp.

My dad, James Wooten, was a Marine in WWII, assigned to the USS Washington. For that reason, I've always felt a special kinship for the Marine Corp. If I ever would have went into the Military, the Marine Corp would have been my choice, even though Amy tells me I would have never made it through boot camp.

So, on this day, I want to give a special shout out to all Marines out there. Thank you for your service and for helping America stay the land of the free, and the home of the brave.
