According to the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office, there has been a rash of car break-ins in recent weeks at local trailheads and in Three Forks. As for why there's been more break-ins recently, the Sheriff's Dept. posted on their Facebook page that it could be that people get desperate the closer we get to the holidays.

The Sheriff's Dept. says if you are leaving purses or other valuables in your car, please make sure they are out of sight. Car windows are easier to break than you might think.

Recently, in Bozeman, a gun was reported stolen from a vehicle where the keys were also left inside.

It's always a good policy to lock your vehicle no matter how safe you believe a neighborhood is.
