The City of Bozeman Street Department will begin its annual fall cleanup of leaves on Monday, October 29th, taking about three weeks to finish, weather permitting.

Crews will begin in the Core Area on October 29 and in the Subdivisions on October 31.

To help the street crews get this important fall chore done in a timely and efficient manner, the Bozeman Police Department asks residents to remove all parked vehicles or trailers from the streets that may interfere with the leaf cleanup.

Any vehicles or trailers parked on the street the day of cleanup may be ticketed, resulting in an annoying $20 ticket for the owner of the vehicle or trailer.

Residents in the Core Area may rake their leaves into the gutters a few days prior to crews being in their area. Residents living outside the Core Area and in subdivisions are asked to bag their leaves in compostable paper bags so individual crew members may come by and pick them up.

Do not put brush or general yard waste in the street as this project is strictly for picking up leaves to avoid problems that could affect the storm drain system.

“No Parking - Street Maintenance” signs will be posted in the core area by noon the day before the cleanup operation is scheduled to begin. The leaf clean up will occur between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and the signs will be removed that same day, provided final sweeping has occurred.

For city residents interested in disposing of leaves at times other than what is scheduled for a specific area, you may bring your leaves in containers to the City Shops Complex at 814 N. Bozeman on November 3rd, 10th and 17th from 10:00am to 2:00pm at no cost. The containers used for hauling the leaves will need to be taken with you when you leave.
