The Broadwater County Sheriff’s Office has now identified the deputy shot and killed this morning on Highway 287 near Three Forks. The deputy was Mason Moore, a three-year veteran of the Sheriff’s Office. Deputy Moore was a husband and also a father of three children in the Three Forks School District.

According to the Gallatin County Sheriff's Office, Deputy Moore was pursuing a vehicle near the Highway 287 interchange at around 3 a.m. Tuesday morning. Dispatch lost contact with Moore and other law enforcement responded to discover Deputy Moore had been shot and killed.

A pursuit occurred later when the suspect’s vehicle was located in Butte-Silverbow County. Multiple shots were fired during this pursuit. The suspect's vehicle was stopped in Missoula County where two male suspects were taken into custody.

The arrested suspects have been identified as 38-year-old Marshall Barrus of Gallatin County and 62-year-old Lloyd Barrus whose last known address is Bakersfield, California.
