The two cubs of the grizzly bear euthanized this week in Yellowstone National Park will be placed in a Toledo, Ohio, zoo.  Their mother was responsible for attacking and killing a hiker on or around August 7th in the park. Wildlife officials decided to euthanize her for public safety reasons.

It is expected that the cubs will be placed in the zoo sometime this fall. The cubs are less than a year old, which wildlife officials state is too young to survive in the wild without their mother. The twins currently weigh approximately 50-60 pounds each. When fully grown, an adult female grizzly can weigh up to 500 pounds.

Upon their arrival at the Zoo, the cubs will undergo standard quarantine processes to ensure their health and wellness before going on exhibit for public viewing.
