Will Clint Eastwood End His Acting Retirement for a Baseball Movie?

Clint Eastwood told reporters in 2008 that ‘Gran Torino’ was “probably” his last on-screen appearance as he was preparing to retire from acting.

Now it looks like that isn’t the case. According to Entertainment Weekly the 81-year-old is currently in talks to star in the baseball drama ‘Trouble With the Curve’ as a veteran scout losing his vision.

The film will be directed by Eastwood’s longtime producer Robert Lorenz, and would mark the first time since 1993′s ‘In The Line Of Fire’ that Eastwood starred in a movie directed by anyone other than himself.

In a previous interview with EW, Eastwood said, “They’re not writing a lot of really great material for guys my age. In lieu of that, I would just prefer to stay behind the camera. But if a great role came along, yeah, I would do that. But actors are like boxers — they stay too long sometimes.”

Eastwood had been planning on directing  Beyonce in a remake of ‘A Star is Born’ this winter, but her pregnancy pushed the project back, and opened up his schedule for a potential return to acting.

In the mean time, keep a look out for his most recent project ‘J. Edgar’ starring Leonardo DiCaprio, due out this November.
