Blake Shelton opened up his 'Healing in the Heartland' benefit for Oklahoma with a stirring rendition of his hit single 'God Gave Me You' on Wednesday night (May 29).

The show began with scenes of the devastation in Moore, Okla. after the tornado ripped through town. "We thought we were dead," one survivor recounted, telling the story of how he and his family stayed inside a storm cellar as the wind pounded on the door, threatening to rip them out.

Shelton's concert sold out within minutes of going on sale, and the support of his fellow Oklahomans was palpable as he performed the song. He raised a big cheer when he shouted, "God gave me people like you!" altering the lyrics a bit during the live performance.

The singer reiterated that fans at home can donate $10 to the United Way by calling 1-800-890-4999, or texting "REBUILD" to 52000.
