October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and this Saturday athletes from Coldsmoke CrossFit will be joining the Bozeman community to have fun and raise funds for the breast cancer nonprofit Barbells for Boobs.

The event starts at 1pm (705 Bridger Drive, Suite C) and will include a family-friendly workout, silent auction, barbeque, and games—including a dunk tank. All of the proceeds will go to Barbells for Boobs, an organization that believes that everyone has the right to know if they’re living with breast cancer.

Donations will be directed for their grant program, which benefits individuals that may not have access to vital detection services, including men and women under the age of 40. Early detection is attributed to increased survival and greater treatment options. In 2015, there were approximately 12,000 new cases of breast cancer in women under the age of 40 and 2,300 new cases in men (www.cancer.org).

Barbells for Boobs fundraising events, which happen across the country, are typically hosted by CrossFit members and include a workout. On October 15h, at Coldsmoke CrossFit the event will start with a fun, voluntary, non-competitive exercise, followed by the silent auction and a multitude of fundraising games. To participate in the dunk tank, individuals can donate money to toss a softball at a target that will send willing community members splashing into the dunk tank beneath them. Who would pass up an opportunity to dunk friends and family for a great cause?

About Barbells for Boobs:
Barbells for Boobs is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to the early detection of breast cancer, with an emphasis on women and men under the age of 40. Inspired by athletes everywhere, local communities come together, fundraise, and help us detect potentially life threatening breast cancer occurrences. The Barbells for Boobs grant program ultimately provides funds for qualified low-income and uninsured women and men who need screening and/or diagnostic procedures in the prevention of breast cancer.
