Garth Brooks was awarded $1 million in his lawsuit against a hospital in his native Oklahoma. The lawsuit came about to due a dispute over a donation in exchange for naming a wing of the facility after his late mother. Even though Brooks likely doesn’t need the money as one of the most successful country stars ever, it was a matter of principle for him — and the jury agreed. The $1 million includes his original donation, plus punitive damages, according to Reuters.
Heartbreak, love and relationships are not the only subjects that Taylor Swift can write a song about. The singer has apparently penned a tune about America’s first political family: the Kennedys. Really? Really.
It’s been a whirlwind and well-documented year for Scotty McCreery with his ‘American Idol‘ win, his No. 1 hit album ‘Clear As Day,’ his busy touring and interview schedule and the time he reserves for family and friends. He’s also going to continue to mix work with school, as he has applied to several colleges — and has just revealed that he’s been accepted to East Carolina. Must be fun to fill out those tedious applications and write those corresponding essays all the while being pranked while on tour with notorious jokester Brad Paisley.
Someone better tell Taylor Swift to add a wing onto her house in order to store all of her awards, since she just added another one to her copious collection of trophies and statuettes. The singer won the Favorite Country Artist Award at the 2012 People’s Choice Awards, which were televised this evening (Jan. 11).

Lady Antebellum‘s lovely, talented and kind-hearted Hillary Scott is doing her part to help others across the world. This is a different, special and revolutionary type of orphanage, as it will be fashioned like a home that serves approximately eight children and will be headed by a mother and father. The aim is to recreate the family model for the children.
Instead of chilling out in his native Garner, N.C. for the whole holiday season, Scotty McCreery headed to the Dominican Republic for a bit to personally deliver gift boxes to needy and impoverished children. The selfless singer shared a couple pictures from his trip via Twitter … when he was able to get internet service, that is!
The Band Perry performed their smash crossover hit ‘If I Die Young,’ which truly put the threesome on the map, at Dick Clark’s big party last night (Dec. 31). The trio soared through the song on ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.’ The event took place in both New York and Hollywood, with the Bant Perry’s performance airing from the West Coast.
