Taylor Swift‘s Speak Now tour was a global, 98-city trek that we are still talking about even though it’s long over. That’s because it was one of the hottest tours of 2011, as the singer traveled the world, strumming her guitar, singing her confessional songs, covering regional artists from the city in which she was playing and inviting big name locals to perform on stage with her. All three of those elements contributed to the tour’s success.
Johnny Cash, akathe Man in Black, was the king of infinite cool, and not exactly someone who would automatically come to mind when you think of lullabies or music with which to soothe babies. That is until the proud parents of 9-month-old twins Reece and Levi decided to use Cash as the soundtrack while their twins bounce around in their Jolly Jumpers.
‘The Voice‘ is a smash hit. No, really! The Season 2 premiere of the hit singing competition grabbed the highest non-sports show ratings on network TV in six years. It had to be Blake Shelton‘s sense of humor that pulled in all those viewer, right? That or the fact that the 2012 Super Bowl was the most watched TV program…ever, which means that a whole mess of people stuck around and watched what followed the big game.
Husband and wife team Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton held hands while performing ‘America the Beautiful’ together before the kickoff of Super Bowl 2012. It was a show of solidarity, and perhaps a way to calm each other’s nerves, as the couple sang while the whole country watched. Many performers before them have flubbed when singing songs at sporting events, but Lambert and Shelton delivered a mistake-free rendition dosed with a little country twang.
Miranda Lambert and Chris Young traffic in the same genre and are currently on tour together, but if there’s one instance in which they differ, it’s their Super Bowl picks this year. The New York Giants will square off against the perennial favorite New England Patriots on Sunday (Feb. 5) for Super Bowl XLVI (a rematch of Super Bowl XLII) and Young spoke like a tried and true football fan while Lambert spoke like a girl who could care less, if we didn’t know any better.
Country singer Justin Moore cops to watching plenty of NASCAR and ESPN, as well as hunting and fishing shows while camped out on his tour bus when on the road. One show you won’t catch him glued in front of the tube for
Karaoke can get you nearly killed. That’s what a Shingletown, Calif. man learned on Thursday of last week (Jan. 26) when his 70-year-old father shot him because he was annoyed by a country song he was singing on karaoke.
Reba McEntire is the latest celebrity to fall victim to a death hoax that’s spreading like wildfire on the web. The alleged news of her death has circulated so quickly that ‘Reba McEntire’ became the No. 1 trending search topic on Google late Monday evening (Jan. 30). Her latest Facebook wall update has been flooded with desperate comments from fans hoping and praying that a report that the singer had fallen to her death while climbing a mountain on an Austrian movie set is untrue.
Mark your calendars for Feb. 8, Miranda Lambert fans. That’s when the singer will make her acting debut on ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.’ While Lambert has appeared on NBC’s ‘The Voice,’ she did so in a performance capacity, so this is her scripted TV bow.
Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green are “coworkers” on ‘The Voice,’ as they both serve as coaches on the reality competition show, which will kick off its second season on Feb. 5. It’s only logical and practical to think that the odd couple would take another step in their professional relationship and work on a song together. Turns out they are doing just that.
Kellie Pickler‘s new album is called ’100 Proof,’ and she brought it to ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show,’ both literally and figuratively. She performed ‘Where’s Tammy Wynette,’ which is the first song on the new album. She also gifted Ellen DeGeneres, who had a birthday earlier this week, with a jar of moonshine!
