Hayes, 42, was admitted to Nashville’s Vanderbilt Hospital earlier this month after learning he was battling stage IV colon cancer. The hit singer-songwriter’s surgery went better than doctors expected it would, and they sent Hayes home on Dec. 17, just nine days after the extensive procedure.
