Tuesday afternoon (Feb. 28), Nashville’s BMI lobby was packed with the friends, family, industry peers and fellow co-writers of Eric Church, as they all had the same goal in mind: to pour a cold cocktail and celebrate one of country music’s hottest stars for his first ever No. 1 single, ‘Drink in My Hand.’
Well it sure didn’t take long for Carrie Underwood to pick up where she left off now that she has released new music to country radio. The powerhouse vocalist is definitely having a “good” week as her new single ‘Good Girl’ tops the Billboard Digital Country Songs chart. The track has even recently been named the most-added song to country radio as of late.
The LoCash Cowboys paid tribute to their late band member, Ryan “Troop” Jones, over the weekend (Sunday, Feb. 26) with a special benefit concert in his honor, which also featured the likes of Bruce Brown, Mason Tyler, Randy Houser and Jeffrey Steele.
Congratulations are in order once again for Keith Urban, who has hit the No. 1 slot on the country singles chart right now for the 14th time. His latest single, ‘You Gonna Fly,’ written by the LoCash Cowboys‘ Preston Brust and Chris Lucas (along with Jaren Johnston), spent only 19 weeks on the chart before reaching the top, marking one of the singer’s fastest rising hits to date.
When Hank Williams Jr. tours, he never seems to have trouble finding fellow country artists — or artists of any genre for that matter — to help him out in the opening act slots. It was no different when it came time to look for his musical pals to lend their time to his forthcoming Taking Back the Country tour, set to kick off next month.
When you’re the young daughters of superstar Jason Aldean, whose career is literally smokin’ hot, it’s hard to not fall in love with the same career choice as Dad. Aldean’s two youngsters, Keeley (9) and Kendyl (4), have found that love, but the level of seriousness for their future is still in question.
For the second week in a row, the Band Perry are topping the country singles chart with their current hit, ‘All Your Life.’ Last week, the tune topped Billboard’s country singles chart, but were one slot shy of No. 1 on the Mediabase / Country Aircheck chart. ‘All Your Life’ is the second chart-topping tune for the Band Perry, who went No. 1 in December 2010 with their smash hit, the award-winning song ‘If I Die Young.’
Josh Thompson, Rodney Atkins, Justin Moore and Trace Adkins are just a few of the big-name artists who have lent their songs to the new release from the NRA, ‘This Is NRA Country Vol. 1.’ The 12-track CD features several gun-friendly tunes, including Thompson’s ‘Way Out Here,’ Atkins’ ‘Cleaning This Gun,’ Moore’s ‘This Is NRA Country’ and Adkins’ ‘More of Us.’
Trace Adkins can now add narrator to his never-ending list of career accomplishments. Adkins has teamed up with the Smithsonian National Postal Museum to present the true children’s story of Owney — the dog famous for riding the rails and visiting Post Offices across the country in the 1890s — in a new eBook.
