Over the years, Montana has made appearances in a number of films. In fact, there's even a company, Montana Film Office, that promotes the use of the state of Montana in big Hollywood film projects. If you're from Montana, then you're probably aware that A River Runs Through It was filmed here. Some parts of the movie were even filmed on the MSU campus.

Here's a list of 5 movies you may not know were filmed in Montana

1. Forrest Gump - Forrest Gump runs through Montana in the film, and two scenes shot in Montana appear in the movie. One scene was filmed in Cut Bank (the one where wheat fields appear briefly), and the other was filmed at the St. Mary Entrance to Glacier National Park.

2. Beethoven 2 - The home of the family was set in Pasadena, but the movie’s park scenes were filmed at Glacier National Park.

3. What Dreams May Come - With a movie that has so many scenes in heaven, it’s no wonder that a few of those scenes were filmed at Glacier National Park. Robin Williams was apparently so impressed with Glacier that he said, “If it isn’t God’s backyard, He certainly lives nearby.”

4. A River Runs Through It - Considering the book’s plot was set in Missoula and on the Blackfoot River, it’s not surprising that it was filmed in Montana. But what many don’t know is that the scenes were actually shot in Livingston, Bozeman and parts of Yellowstone. The church scenes were filmed in the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Livingston.

5. The Revenant - After scouting locations across North America, film makers settled on Kootenai Falls near Libby, and film crews converged on the dramatic, terraced riverscape and waterfall for a 10-day shoot in July, according to the Montana Film Office.

The music video for the Dave Matthews Band's song "Gravedigger" was also filmed in Livingston.
