Montana is a wonderful place to call home.

We've got beautiful scenery, fantastic schools, lots of outdoor activities, and many friendly folks. Plus, another selling point are the charming small towns, which certainly haven't gone unnoticed.

We've talked multiple times about the number of folks who have decided to move to Montana in the last few years. Some of them are permanent, while for others, it's more of a part-time thing. Either way, Montana is no longer the hidden gem it once was.

While not everyone is thrilled with all of the folks moving to The Treasure State, you certainly can't blame them for wanting to be part of something that is unlike anywhere else in the country. Montana is the perfect mix of "old school" meets cutting edge. While there is still plenty of "old west" left in Montana, there is also a ton of "progress" as well.

So which four small Montana cities made the list of The Top 100 Small Towns in America?  The first town to make the list is Bozeman, Montana.

Bozeman is not only one of the fastest-growing cities in Montana but in the nation as well.  Home to Montana State University, Bozeman has a lot going for it including a wonderful downtown area that offers shopping, dining, and a popular social scene. Plus with close access to skiing and tons of outdoor activities, it's not hard to see why Bozeman is on the list. Because of the popularity of the town, real estate is on the high end and is one of the more expensive towns to live in.

Second on the list is Red Lodge, Montana.

Red Lodge is a popular tourist destination, especially in the summer.  While the population of the town is small, there's plenty to do and that is what makes Red Lodge so attractive. From the historic buildings downtown to the ski resort, Red Lodge is known for its friendly people, fantastic food, and outdoor activities.

Coming in third is West Yellowstone, Montana.

West Yellowstone welcomes hundreds of thousands throughout the year, with the majority of those coming during the summer months to visit Yellowstone National Park. The town itself is very charming, even if it is catered towards tourism. There's plenty to do and see. Including wildlife, live theater, great food, and other family-friendly activities.

The fourth and final entry is Whitefish, Montana.

Whitefish receives all kinds of love from tourist sites. This small town just outside of Glacier National Park has been called the friendliest town in America. With all of the outdoor adventures, including the ski resort, Whitefish has something for everyone. Plus, it's one of the best-decorated towns in America when it comes to the Holidays.
